On the occasion of SpaceX’s IPO, we supported appearances by Giancarlo Giudici, Co-Director of the Executive Program in Finance at POLIMI Graduate School of Management, on Class CNBC’s special coverage of the listing and on Focus Economia, the Radio 24 programme from Il Sole 24 Ore Group.
Through media relations and coordination with editorial teams, we helped bring an academic perspective to the discussion, giving audiences the tools to understand the transaction’s financial and strategic implications. The activity was designed to showcase the School’s expertise and connect it with some of the most relevant issues on the economic news agenda.
SpaceX’s Nasdaq debut on 12 June 2026 marked a significant milestone in the relationship between financial markets and innovation. The initial public offering generated approximately $85.7 billion in net proceeds for the company, including the full exercise of the underwriters’ option to purchase additional shares. It was an exceptionally large transaction for a company whose activities span space exploration, connectivity and artificial intelligence.
A central focus was the relationship between the group’s business prospects and investor expectations. Strong demand for its shares and the valuation assigned to the company prompted discussion about the markets’ ability to anticipate future growth and the risks associated with particularly ambitious scenarios.
In this context, Professor Giudici highlighted how SpaceX’s valuation incorporated highly optimistic assumptions about the development of its business, emphasising the importance of taking a medium- to long-term perspective. His analysis helped distinguish the enthusiasm surrounding the debut from the conditions required to sustain the company’s value over time.
The television and radio appearances provided complementary opportunities for in-depth analysis. Class CNBC’s special coverage placed his insights within the broader story of the listing, while his participation in Focus Economia brought the School’s perspective to an audience seeking to understand the economic dynamics behind the transaction. The Radio 24 episode focused in particular on the relationship between investor demand, valuation and the group’s technological vision.
The project demonstrates the value of media relations in connecting academic expertise with financial journalism. By supporting POLIMI Graduate School of Management, we helped foster dialogue between experts and editorial teams, making a complex subject more accessible and offering a more informed perspective on the relationship between innovation, growth potential and risk.
