ADCI, IAB Italia, OBE and UNA launch the “Charter of Respect”: new guidelines to improve workplaces in the communication industry

The main associations in the sector – ADCI, IAB Italia, OBE and UNA – have presented the Charter of Respect, a document designed to promote fairer, more inclusive and more transparent working environments within the communication industry.

The initiative aims to offer companies and professionals a shared reference framework, responding to the growing attention toward well-being, diversity and the quality of professional relationships.

Why the project was created

The Charter is based on a clear idea: the working environment directly affects the way people collaborate and experience their professional lives.

It therefore sets out a series of principles intended to guide organizations toward more conscious corporate cultures, built on trust, listening and mutual responsibility.

Key contents of the Charter

The structure of the document explores the main dynamics of working life, translating them into practical, immediately applicable guidelines. The core areas include:

  • Inclusive environments – creating workplaces where everyone can express themselves freely.
  • Respect for time – improving energy management, making meetings more effective and defining clear boundaries.
  • Information transparency – encouraging information sharing to strengthen trust and collaboration.
  • Impact on the ecosystem – promoting choices that align with ethical and inclusive values.
  • Ambassadors of respect – recognizing and addressing inappropriate or discriminatory behavior.
  • Bias awareness – fostering a critical, open attitude toward differences.
  • The value of feedback – encouraging continuous improvement through constructive dialogue.

A shared commitment across the industry

The Charter of Respect is the result of a joint effort by the four associations, which in recent years have launched a structured reflection on the cultural changes taking place within the communication ecosystem.

Their shared goal is to promote more responsible and sustainable practices, inviting agencies, companies and professionals to adopt a people-centered approach to work.

The document is available in open format and can be freely integrated by any organization interested in strengthening respectful and sustainable internal practices. It represents an important step towards redefining shared standards for creative and strategic work.
