The Anitec-Assinform study is now considered the reference study of the ICT (Information & Communication Technology) Italian market and offers to companies who want to sell to the 6.6 million people resident in Italy an almost real-time picture of the 4th economy based on GDP in Europe.
“The pandemic has imposed an acceleration of the digital transition in every sector of Italian society: from industry to the Public Administration to social interactions. In addition to the awareness of the strategic role of technology, data and current trends now show that the growth of the country can go on together with the expansion of the digital market “. Thus Marco Gay, President of Anitec-Assinform, the Confindustria Association that groups together the main ICT companies, commenting on the publication of the Report “Digital in Italy 2021. Forecasts 2021-2024 and Policy”.
The digital market in Italy in the first half of 2021 signed the restart of ICT investments. The digital market in the first half of 2021 amounted to 36,069 million euros (+ 5.7% compared to the first half of 2020). The sector of Devices and Systems is growing (9,836 million euros, + 11.9%), that of Software and ICT Solutions (3,653 million euros, + 8.2%), of ICT Services (6,431 million euros, + 8%) and Content and Digital Advertising (6,513 million euros, + 9.2%). Network Services, on the other hand, recorded a further contraction (9,636 million euros, -4.1%).
As regards the dynamics of the second half of 2021, all sectors (with the exception of Network Services) are expected to grow and with an improving trend compared to the forecasts published last July. The main differences compared to the July forecasts include an increase in Devices and Systems thanks to the more sustained growth in the segments of TV sets, personal computers, and mobile devices; further growth in the software segment due to the acceleration of digitalization in all sectors; an increased forecast for digital content mainly due to the higher growth recorded in the Digital Advertising segment.
Based on these considerations, the digital market is expected to reach 75,410 million euros in 2021 (+ 5.5% compared to 2020). For the three-year period 2022-2024, growth is expected to continue bringing the market to 79,286 million euros (+ 5.1%) in 2022, to 83,270 million euros (+ 5%) in 2023 and to 87,328 million euros (+4 , 9%) in 2024.
In the three-year period 2022-2024, the main technological drivers will continue to be the Digital Enablers, which have already given a strong impulse to the digital market in recent years: Cloud Computing, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Cybersecurity.
